Our Programs
Our interventions cut across humanitarian and development services key among them are health programs, nutrition programs, protection programs, Livelihood and cross cutting interventions such as youth empowerment, Gender and Women Empowerment, Environmental interventions, cohesion and peace building , justice and rule law, governance and other interventions

Health & Nutrition
HDC is an active health sector partner and universal implementing partner in most of the agencies supporting health sector. We manage over 12 health facilities including Elwak District Hospital, Bardhera District Hospital , Dollow MCH , Burdhubo MCH, Ali Ato MCH, Dhamasa MCH, , Geriley MCH, Bardhera MCH, Bulahawa MCH, Geriley MCH, Husqurun MCH.
Protection
Protection needs in Somalia continues to be overwhelming with increased threats. These include targeted and indiscriminate physical attacks on civilians and on property, widespread sexual and Gender-Based Violence (GBV), child recruitment, family separation, violence against children, arbitrary arrest, forced displacement, land-grabbing, and extortion of assets and supplies from vulnerable groups
Water Hygiene and Sanitation (WASH)
We are supporting WASH interventions across our coverage, Provision of emergency water trucking, Rehabilitation and protection of existing communal water sources, Drilling and construction of new strategically located communal wells
Livelihood and relief programs
These interventions have been supporting vulnerable populations during emergencies and crisis to alleviate from suffering, Provision of livestock feed/fodder or supplementary feed to prevent drought related fatalities. Provision of water to livestock to prevent drought related fatalities
Peace building & cohesion Peace building & cohesion
Together with other partners we have been supporting peace building and governance to strengthen peaceful coexistence and governance values. Establishing community structures/strengthen existing to enhance community policing
Cross cutting interventions
HIV/AIDs sensitisation – We have worked with Global Fund to support Reducing HIV Infections and HIV related mortalities program. Business development and training- We have a training centre which is purposely used to provide specifically the youth with business and entrepreneurial skills
Peace building & cohesion Peace building & cohesion
Gender and women empowerment – We pursue gender and women empowerment. Among the key interventions has been advocacy for women in leadership and decision-making institutions including parliament through 30% quota systems.
Livelihood and relief programs
Provision of conditional cash transfers to provide immediate access to food while supporting the rehabilitation and/or establishment of priority critical community infrastructure/assets
Water Hygiene and Sanitation (WASH)
Rehabilitation and protection of existing communal water sources, (boreholes or high yield wells), including civil structures, solar/fuel power and pumping system and pipe networks, as well as training of community committees on operation and maintenance, targeting drought-affected rural communities and unserved population in hard-to-reach areas;
