Water Hygiene and Sanitation (WASH)

We are supporting WASH interventions across our coverage

These include but not limited to the services:

  1. Provision of emergency water trucking (mainly to drought affected rural communities) for lifesaving ;
  2. Rehabilitation and protection of existing communal water sources, (boreholes or high yield wells), including civil structures, solar/fuel power and pumping system and pipe networks, as well as training of community committees on operation and maintenance, targeting drought-affected rural communities and unserved population in hard-to-reach areas;
  3. Drilling and construction of new strategically located communal wells (boreholes) in recurrent drought hotspot areas to prevent drought induced displacement;
  4. Improve access to safe water through extension/construction of water distribution networks to drought affected/displaced communities in IDP settlements;
  5. Water treatment (chlorination of communal water sources/HHWT);
  6. Installation of new sanitation facilities in IDP sites in culturally appropriate safe for users of all ages and gender, and accessible to persons with disability (including those accessible to PwDs);
  7. Distribution of solid waste collection tools (gloves, facemasks, wheelbarrows, shovels, rakes etc.) to IDP communities and community mobilization on solid waste management.

Hygiene kits distribution, including female specific hygiene items (sanitary materials), and hygiene promotion campaigns focusing disease preventions (including AWD/Cholera)
